About Us

The contribution of women to advancements in all areas of technology, industrialization, academia, business, and the arts often goes unrecorded. Gender gaps and stereotyping still exist around the world in these fields (see Global Gender Gap Report 2007). What can we do to activate change?

One solution is to document women making history so that girls and women are encouraged by others who have succeeded at what they are passionate about. The need for role models is well documented in mass media as well as academic publications.

The Women Role Models activism project site provides online interviews of successful women in the arts and sciences from around the world. Search and browse for video and audio interviews by technology, art media, discipline, era, last name, etc. Get involved with our group by submitting your own interview audio/video files, discussing industry topics, learning to produce video interviews, and starting contests.

Here is a short commercial highlighting the purpose and goals of the Women Role Models Project created by Ken Westfall.

Check out the Internship Opportunity page for more information about the specific areas in the project.
